The 100th Anniversary of the Zion Circuit 1861-1961
The Salem and Ebenezer Evangelical United Brethren churches of the Paynesville area celebrated their 100th Anniversary in 1961. These two churches represent the Zion Circuit which had its beginning in 1861 when Rev. Conrad Lahr, pastor of the New Ulm Mission organized the first congregation with 32 members. These photos are from the 4 days of events; Thursday September 28, 1961 throught Sunday October 1, 1961.
A replica of the Ebenezer Church, baked and decorated by Mrs. Lawrence Liestman and daughter Linda was used as a centerpiece for the head table.
Cars neatly lined up for one of the services.
Cars were parked everywhere for the events celebrating the Zion Circuit 100th anniversary.
